or............ could be another issue, did you swap probes to confirm fault ?
As an aside - I've done many installs and never had to buy a replacement EGT probe. Not saying they don't fail, I just look for other causes for the symptoms before spending money on replacements.
It's pays to fit them further away from the cylinder head but no more than approx 4" as it can increase their life for example my plane has 1780 hrs (Lycoming) with only 2 EGT & nil CHT probes replaced during that time.
