Faulty SV-GPS-2020???

Hi all,

I've installed a SV-GPS2-2020 and I'm concerned it's faulty. I've double-checked the wiring and serial configuration. There is no data traveling between the GPS and the SV EFIS.

Other than testing the wiring for power, continuity, correct pin assignement and configuration, is there anything else it could be???

I'm stumped. I'm doubtful that a brand new GPS could be this fragile/junk but have no idea what else it could be.

Thanks,

Dan

If you're not seeing any data activity on the serial port page (use this for a sign of connectivity, not position appearing on the map or not), and that port is configured correctly (usually serial port 5), no other setting will affect the GPS's ability to transmit. In this case, it's either wiring or the GPS itself. Reach out to our support team if you don't have any joy

Thanks Dynon, I know the wiring is correct. Something is not right with this module. Can you assist with a replacement or do I need to work this through my supplier?

Dan, they don't check here all that often. They show up unexpectedly. There's a link in their signature line about contacting them directly. You'll probably get a quicker response that way.

Mine was similarly DOA 2 years ago. You'll want to look at the message counts on the serial port setup page. I swapped serial ports (wires and setup) with the ADSB receiver to verify the HDX port was good (GPS dead , ADSB good, on either port). I got lucky that both went through a molex exiting my panel, your mileage may vary. Call (or email) Technical Support; they will ask the obvious questions and then provide an RMA # to return it. They verified mine was dead and had a warranty replacement out the door the next day.

Good idea. Thanks Albee. Unfortunately this won’t be as easy for me as I’ll need to switch pins on the D37 connector… such a PITA to pull everything apart.

It might be best for me to stop messing with everything and send it back for the specialists to test.

I’m worried that if I continue to fault find on a working system that I may inadvertently damage something else and then not be covered by warranty

Indeed, we check in here once or twice a week, and refer technical support and/or repair topics to our support team, who have a dedicated system for organizing and communicating with customers. Please reach out to them if you haven't already (contact information in siganture).
