I have an HS-34, a Garmin 530W, and a Garmin 496 connected together with Approach Fast-Stack hub and harnesses.
I will discuss this with Tim Haas at Approach, but let me ask a question or two here as well.
It appears that the HS-34 will not output anything serial except to an SL30. Is this correct? I want the HS-34 to pass the active flight plan from the G530 to the G496. This can be done with Aviation In to the G496, I don't know if NMEA In/Out will do that or not, but it is moot if the HS-34 won't talk to the 496.
Will I still be able to get nav info to the HSI if I connect the G496 TX line to the HS-34 but connect the RX line directly to the G530? That may allow the 496 to recieve the active flight plan and still drive the HSI.
If I had to choose, I think I would rather have the 496 just run along without the HSI but be able to copy the flight plan from the 530.

As the test pilot said, you need complicated systems... otherwise you don't get interesting emergencies.
