Floscan K value?

I bought a Floscan 201B-9 to use with my Dynon. Install Manual asks for a K value that you get from the TICKET attached to the Floscan. I had no ticket attached when it arrived.(not bought from Dynon)......does every Floscan have a different K value or are they similar? If they are identical what is the K-Value for this model?

Thanks,
Dean

Without the exact K-factor, you'll likely need to go through quite a few iterations to really dial the sender in. They do vary by unit. If you look on FloScan's aviation page, you'll see that the 201b that we sell, for example, has K-factors in the vicinity of 28000 to 31000, which is quite a wide range. Note that different models do have different K-factor ranges, so while 30000 may be an OK starting point for the 201B, the 201C, for example, is typically up near 34000.

You should be able to get there pretty quickly. I'd suggest starting with the FloScan nominal number of 30,000. Burn a known number of gallons (fill up, burn, fill up, use difference). Whatever the EMS says you burned versus the actual burn will tell you how far to adjust the number.

For example:

EMS says 32.7 gallons. Fuel fillup says 33.4 gallons. This means your K factor is too high.

(32.7 / 33.4) * 30,000 = 29,371

This should get you pretty close on your first try. Just make sure you burn 10+ gallons to get an accurate number. Even customers that have the tag from FloScan sometimes need to do some minor adjustments.
