I had to send my SkyView Touch in for repair because one cooling fan started to make noise. It was also running slower or even stopping sometimes. You can see the RPM of the fans in the SETUP MENU>LOCAL DISPLAY SETUP>DISPLAY HARDWARE INFORMATION area. I only have one Touch display that was purchased as an upgrade with a trade in of a non touch display. I emailed support, and found out that the warranty was expiring this month!

Anyhow, I wanted to fly so figured I would go with one screen. I used a standard 9 pin "gender changer" male-male to connect the two network cables that would normally plug into the back of the screen. This worked perfectly.

For those of you flying with one screen, I found it much less convenient. I always want the map display to show any traffic and I found with the map on my primary display it was small, and the display crowded now, with the engine display shrunk to the smallest size. I need to reduce the amount of information on this size engine screen to just what is necessary, because it is too crowded now. I also don't like the fact of no screen redundancy. With two displays, I use the swap function constantly to swap the map over to the primary side when needed, and I have gotten used to it in full screen mode on the right showing the terrain and any traffic. I am glad I have two screens.

After spending some time on configuring the 20% EMS screen, I am very happy with my single screen Touch. I also had to swap out the first Touch I got because of crazy fan noises, but Dynon made it a seemless process :)
