My RV12 holds 20 gals but the D180 EMS only goes as high as 14.  With a full tank it remains at 14 until the fuel is burned down to the 14 (or thereabouts) level then starts to count down from 14.

I am the 3rd owner.  The seller said it was always that way for him.  There must be some way to correct it but I haven't been able to find it in the manuals.

This is normal for an RV-12. Your fuel gauge float mechanicaly tops out at @ 12-14 gallons, yet the tank can still hold @ 8-6 gallons more (to a max quantity of @ 20 gallons). If you fill the tank to its max of @ 20 gallons, you will not see any change in the electric fuel gauge until you have burned off @ 6-8 gallons. Lots of discussion on this subject on: www.vansairforce.com

I have a D-180 in my -8 and it reads more than what the float allows above and below and uses fuel flow (I guess) to guestimate down to where the float gives it an actual reading.

I've also built two -12s, one with a D-180 and the other with Skyview and neither tops out at 12 gallons,

Sounds like the original calibration wasn't done correctly, If it were mine, I would drain the tank and recalibrate the D-180.

After going thru capacitance fuel calibration 3x's It shows the gallons as they are filled till full is saved. Wing tank graphic works ok, however Upon restarting have been unable to get main tank to save the fuel level graphic display. The numeric data works great when you set the tank as "full" and it is accurate as to gals used and remaining etc! Any ideas on how to resolve!

AcroMX2 - I'm not sure I'm completely following your scenario. A few things though: The numerical fuel computer is based on your manually-entered fuel state, minus fuel flow (via the fuel flow transducer) as you burn it off. In other words, the fuel comptuer does not use the level sensors (in your case, capacitive) at all.

Can you take some pictures of what you're seeing and send them to support at dynonavionics dot com?
