Fuel Level???

Hi,

I have a D-180 connected to the 24 Volt main Avionic bus. Then I have a 12 Volt Skysport Capacity type fuel sender with gage connected to an linear voltage convertor... that all works perfect so far!

When I hook up the D-180 fuel tank 1 input to the Skysport sender the the CHT temp drops down to -99 and the OAT drops to -9... and the ManPress rises  :'(

That is strange! or?

if I see it right what is the problem, the sender output is somewhere 0-5V! Sender type is right...
EMS, fuel level gage, sender and voltage converter share the same ground!
Do I have to remove the gage?
Do I need a different sender powerd by 24v?

PLEASE HELP!  ;)

Are you sure the output of that sender is NEVER above 5V? The fuel tank inputs can only take 0-5V. The only time we have ever seen what you are describing is when someone puts more than 5V into one of the inputs.

You can try using the 12V out from the D180 as well.

So, I connected the Sensor and Gage paralel to the Fuel flow sensor (Red 12V out) now it works! :)

Hello Dynon, please confirm that this is not creating any problem with the fuel flow!? (is the 12 V output powerfull enough for both?)

Thanks!

The 12V fuel flow out is what we meant. It works fine, we wouldn't have suggested it if it could cause problems.

I'm guessing that 12V linear converter you have messes with the ground somehow which is why the D180 has problems.

As a bonus with this setup, your fuel level gauges will still work off the backup battery of the D180 if you have one.
