G Meter Inaccurate

I've been flying aerobatics fot about 10 years, and I compete at the Advanced level. I recently bought an Experimental (I moved from an Extra 300L that competed with for 8 years) and I just installed a Skyview to give me better situational awareness with the limited panel space. I am impressed with the system.

However, the G Meter is WAY wrong. I flew a few times through an Advanced routine and came back with the Dynon G Meter showing I maxed at 3.5+ and 3-. No way. I was pulling 7 based on years of experience. The 3- seemed overstated as the routine had almost no outside stuff in it.

I had an analog and installed it in the front panel today and went out and flew again. The steam gauge showed a little better than 7+ and about 3.2- with the test manuevers I flew which felt just about exactly right from experience in the Extra. The Dynon showed 4+ and 5.2-.

So, MY unit is grossly understating positive Gs and grossly overstating negatives.

What can be done to correct this? I would like to be able to use the Dynon G meter, but I can't if it's going to lie to me.

Thanks for an otherwise great product.

So either something is wrong with your ADAHRS, or it's mounted with significant pitch tilt, or there's some other software bug that's non-obvious. We've definitely tested the G-meter for accuracy, so this isn't something we'd expect to see. You should probably work with our technical support team at support at dynonavionics dot com or 425-402-0433 to troubleshoot your issue.

Thank you for the response.

I was super careful mounting the ADAHRS. I read the "within 1 degree" in the instructions, mounted the unit flat and square facing forward. I've been rewarded with pitch, roll, and yaw depictions that seem to be spot on while in flight with no software adjustments.

The pitot and static info matches the analogs, too. The only problem appears to the be the G, and it's definitely off--been up three times since my post and the error + and - is always the same (under and overstated significantly). The system does seem to "drift" in it's depictions of terrain and slowly find the center after a turn. Maybe it's all related?

I'll give support a call in the AM. Thank you so much.
