Hello All;

I have connected the G-295 to the HS-34, however, they do no seem to be talking.

The HSI screen only shows "Waiting for GPS fix", even though the GPS is locked and with an active route.

This is what I've done:
1) Connected the G-295 "out" to pin #2 of the HS34 (RX).
2) Connected the G-295 "in" to pin #15 of the HS34 (TX)
2) Set the serial 1 setting to NMEA and 4800 baud.
3) Set the G-295 interface to NMEA Out and 4800 baud.

Anything else I have to do or you suggest I check on?

Thanks

C

Just re-read your post. The wires you inputted your GPS stream to represent Serial #2.

You configured Serial #1.

Once you have confirmed that this all works, log in to the Wiki and update THIS PAGE so that others will know this configuration has been confirmed.

If that (Serial #1) was just a typo, read on...

Confirm that you have the latest firmware update for you Garmin 295. That could prevent you from outputting a recognized data stream.
Double check Out (Blue) ==> Pin 2 and and In (Yellow) ==> Pin 15 and that they are on the MALE DB25 side (e.g. YOU inserted the wire into the FEMALE connector, which goes into the HS34 MALE connector. I have been known to get my wires backwards). You didn't specify wire color here, so I'll play devils' advocate that you may have gotten those reversed.
Confirm that the OUTPUT of the 295 is set to NMEA - 9600 (or 4800). You stipulated 4800, so that should be OK.
Confirm that the Dynon HSI Serial Input for Serial #2 (NOT #1) to Enabled / NMEA (or possibly Aviation) 4800 (which you said was what you set). Possible error here is that Dynon prefers "Aviation" for this GPS.
