I have read the other posts and as I understand it, the Garmin 496 has just 3 wires to worry about. 1) the Red (+), the Back (-) grounded w/ Skyview and the Blue Serial #1 output. Please enlighten me if incorrect.

Question 2;
I understand the wiring for the Skyview GPS puck. Is there anything about the 496 GPS puck I need to know other than plugging it into the rear of the 496?

I haven't connected my 495 to the Skyview system yet, but I did connect it to my iCOM 210 with the single blue wire and it output the comm frequencies to the iCOM.

The red is (+) DC input and the black is (-) ground. There are two ports according to the wire color code. The violet wire is PORT 2 OUT. I'll probably connect that to the Skyview. I suspect it has the same data as port one.

The two ports on a 495 do not always have the same data, and I'm not sure if you can make them output the same data or not. Just so people know, the 495 has two ports since it doesn't have weather but the 496 has only one.

The best thing to do is just split the signal. If it goes to your 210 and works, it will probably work with SkyView.

There really is nothing to know besides hooking the one wire from your GPS into one of the RX pins on the SkyView (any of the 5 will work).
