Garmin AERA 500 GPS compaability

I am installing a D100 in my RV-6 and was planning on installing a garmi "AERA" series 500 GPS.

Page3-5 of the D100 instn manual lists the garmin500 units under "GPS units known to work", but asterisks them stating quote "these units do not output time over serial; ARINC connection via HS34 reqd to receive time." unquote.

If I do not install the HS34 what does this mean for me as a VFR instalation.

They are talking about the panel mount 530 gps.....the Aera works fine with the D100 and you do not need the Hs34...
