Do any of you have a Garmin Aera installed and hooked up to your Dynon systems? Looking at the documentation, it looks like it's missing one of the critical NMEA sentences (GPRMB) for the HSI to work (on SkyView, you wouldn't know this since HSI comes out end of April), but we haven't had any complaints from the field yet. Any reports would be appreciated!

Huh????

From apendix D, page 145 of the manual:

NMEA Sentence Output:
• Normal Mode: GPRMB, GPRMC, GPGGA, GPGSA, GPGSV, GPGLL, GPBWC,
GPVTG, GPXTE, GPBOD, GPRTE, GPWPL, GPAPB, PGRME, PGRMZ, PGRMM,
and PGRMH.

Thanks for that. Didn't get that far evidently. Page 143 has some possibly contrary info that is leaving us guessing. I'm leaning towards "it works", but still not certain.

The 695/696 manuals also says the same thing...

That is the approved list for the 3.01 version of NMEA I think. From what I understand, the prior versions are supported or 3.01 is backwards compatible....along with their sentences.

I have the Aera 510 with the Skyview system. I'll give it a good test in a couple of weeks.

I had a 500 connected on the bench and it was working for position. I upgraded the Skyview to 1.5 and the position stopped working. I subsequently upgraded the 500 firmware and restored the postion info to the Skyveiw. Not sure what all that means.

No HSI in 1.5 to test.

The HSI/AP firmware (2.0)is due out Friday if everything goes according to plan. If you can check the HSI functionality once that's in there, we'd appreciate it!

I have Skyview Version 2.0 and a Garmin 510. The Garmin output is set to "normal" and Skyview Serial RX shows counter activity but no bearing pointer shows up on the HSI. I have the serial RX input set at 9600 baud, NMEA input.

Anyone have the 510 working with Skyview?
