Getting set-up, but some issues

Anyone have a suggestion on this? I'm working on the panel over the Holiday weekend and hit this issue:

On initial power-up the SV didn't recognize any modules, so I went into the set-up and gave each screen the tail number of the airplane and began the configuration process. Part way through, the number one screen basically "froze-up". It is in a black/white text mode with a bunch of info along the left margin, the last line of which states Starting Network Manager. In the center of the screen there is a box with Network Update Status and a status bar that is at 0% and a statement "Enumerating network".

At this point the screen does nothing. I can't even power it off. After powering down the main battery, the second screen does it's usual "powering off in 30 seconds" and then does so. The number 1 screen stays lit (probably until the SV-BAT goes dead). Not wanting to kill the SV-BAT, I simply unplugged it.

Any thoughts on how to get around this hurdle?

System details:

2ea 10" SV screens, ea with an SV-BAT
1ea ADAHRS
SV-EMS (wired into harness, but discreet items not connected)
SV-429 (wired to GNS-430W)
1ea SV-GPS
2ea servos, not connected yet
Systems purchased last summer, so still using Ver 2.5 software

Here is a picture of the screen I get. Last night I disconnected the SV-BAT units from both screens and powered up, getting this photo. After about 10 minutes of fiddling around with screen #2, this screen went to three red X's (PFD, MAP, ENG) so it obviously could not see any of the modules. In the three red-x screen I was again not able to navigate around the menus. No buttons or joysticks were working...

First, update each display, individually, with nothing connected, to the latest firmware available from our download page. Then, connect your modules and screens, and from one of the displays, do a network configuration. The system should then find the modules (and all the displays) and update the modules' firmware. Then, when the AP servos are powered and added to the network, they'll be updated when you detect them on the network in the future. See if that straightens things out.

Success. Entirely a self-inflicted wound. Somehow I missed that the system needed to be initially powered-up with no network cables connected. It completed the firmware update and then found all the devices properly.

Just another note. Since I purchased two EFIS units, I received two USB thumb-drives. Unfortunately, one of them failed today. When inserting the drive into my PC to transfer the latest firmware (3.1.1) the socket mostly pushed into the thumb-drive body! It was hanging onto the PC by it's fingernails, but looked correct by appearances and the PC could not find it... Luckily I have the second drive.

Surprisingly, despite the GPS puck being mounted inside the airplane and the airplane "mounted" inside my basement, it still gets a signal for the Map page (although it occasionally drops out...). Marvelous!

I've got the same problem with one of my thumb drives but consider that to be beneficial. What I do is pull out the tongue' then squeeze the body, between thumb and forefinger, then insert drive. It will work, but because of the faulty units issues, it prevents me from inadvertently using one of several other thumb drives I have.
