I just installed and wired a new SV-ARINC-429 module in accordance with the current Skyview Installation manual Figure 87, but do not fully understand (okay, not at all) how to configure the Skyview and/or the GNC in order to display correct HSI and Bearing information.

Currently, I have:

Input Speed set to 'High'
Input 1 set to 'GPS 1'
I am receiving labels under Input 1
Navigation Source Disp Name changed to 'GNC250'
Input 2 set to 'None'

I have made no changes to the GNC itself. No HSI or bearing information is being displayed on the PFD when a flight plan or Direct-To is entered in the GNC.

Can anyone assist with this? Thanks in advance.

Make sure that the output speed on the 250XL is set to High (to match the SV-ARINC-429).

Then, make sure that you've selected the 250XL - Push the PFD button, then push the HSI SRC button until you see "GNC250" selected.

I finally had the chance to get back out to the airplane and try to figure out the Skyview to GNC250XL interface.

As the Skyview Installation Manual shows, the only connections are the RS-232 Channel 1 Output and the ARINC 429 Outputs A & B.  For the RS-232 output, the only options I have are "off" and "aviation".  Obviously, I chose "aviation".  For the ARINC 429 Channel, I have "off", "Collins PL2 EFS", "King EFS 40/50", and "w/o GAMA labels".  I've tried all three settings, and still do not receive any bearing or distance information.  I DO however, receive the identifier of the airport I've selected on the GNC in the small box just to the right of the HSI.

I've triple checked all connections (there are only three wires) between the GNC250XL and SV-ARINC-429 box.

In the picture shown below, I had selected direct-to KCPT on Skyview and direct-to KAFW on the GNC205XL.

Any suggestions?

I'd expect one of those combinations to work. So I'm a little stumped. What version of SkyView are you running? Do you also never get an HSI/CDI needle?

So, the problem appears to be the input speed selection on the 429 module. After changing it to "Low", the two units are communicating perfectly.

I understand there may not be many people running this setup (it's the best my current budget can manage), but perhaps you could add this info to the next Installation Manual revision...?

The two GNC250XL settings should be: I/O Channel 1 set to "aviation" and ARINC 429 Channel set to "Collins PL2 EFS".

The SV-ARINC-429 Input Speed should be set to "Low".
