GNS-430 Data on Two Skyviews Simultaneously?

I currently have two Skyviews (version 2.5), each one has the Dynon GPS puck for position.  I also have a GNS-430 hooked up to both via the Approach Stack system.  Each SV “sees” data the same way.  I can tell in the serial setup menu TX and RX are working.

One of the SVs reads the GNS-430 data correctly.  It displays the Navsource data, and the CDI on the HSI.

The second SV does not display Navsource data (it does display the blank ___), and no CDI on the HSI.

I have played with the serial setup menu in numerous configurations, (turning off the Dynon GPS, an ensuring the 430 is the only data), with no luck.

Clearly my goal is to display the GNS-430 data/CDI on the HSI on both screens simultaneously.

Thoughts?  Tim

Tim,

You say that "TX and RX are working". If you mean that SV to 430 TX is working, that does not sound right.

The 430 serial RX should be turned off and the SV TX on both screens (for the Serial Ports connected to the 430) should be turned off. Only one screen should have serial TX even connected to the 430. SV does not even support transmission over serial to the 430 yet.

Tom,

You are correct.  The GNS-430 is only transmitting over the serial ports, they are not receiving serial data.

To be clear - on the serial port setup up screen, it shows the GNS-430 sending data to the two SVs.  This can be accomplished by the Approach Stack System.

So, I will ensure the other Rx are turned off. (Meaning 430 is TX serial data to the SV only).

Are you sugesting that only one screen can recieve the data, and operate?  The Approach Stack has the capability of sharing data for two systems.

Make sense?  Tim

Tim,

Absolutely the two SV screens can both receive the G-430 serial data at the same time. That is working fine in my A/C.

Not familiar with the Approach Stack System. For this purpose though, all it has to do is connect the serial TX line from the G-430 to the serial RX lines of both of the SV screens and connect the serial TX line from one, and only one, of the SV screens to the G-430 serial RX line. As long as both screens and the G-430 share a common ground, it should work electrically.

Are you sure that the serial port setup for BOTH SV screens are each setup correctly, and the same? You must already have the G-430 transmit set up right or you would not get data correctly on either screen. Is the G-430 RX line set to none?

Tom,

Duh!!  Thanks for the info.  The settings were not the same.  Sooooo nice to see the data pop up on both HSIs.

Again - thanks  Tim
