If the 196 has it, make sure that under advanced NMEA setup the data rate is set to normal, not fast. Also, what are ALL of the settings in the serial port on your SkyView? Also, what do you see under the RX and TX counters and the good sentences and group errors lines (these are the status lines under the settings on the SkyView serial port settings page). Finally, if you have multiple displays, is your 196 serial output hooked to both displays in parallel (it needs to be).

I'm not at my SV at present but does the SV have The 196 on the list? You have the 196 but show 296 as serial in, maybe that is the issue you have ? If the 196 is not on the list then I'd just use the generic nmea input setting.

Hello thanks for the info.
!96 is not on the list but 296 is the same just a colour screen.
I will give the Generic one a go. Hows the weather on the other side. Would like to be there for the winter. Cheers

I think you'll find that if the actual model of Gps is not listed then using the generic nmea is the way to go, Dynonavionics May chip in here if I'm wrong on this :)
Weather on our side is going into Spring but the temps are slightly warmer than normal for this time of year. Send me a pm if you like, I'm in Newark at the moment :)

You can give the generic NMEA a try, but also, what are the other output options available on the 196? When you press menu when on the 196's GPS configuration page, do you get a pop-up that lets you get to an advanced NMEA settings menu?

Hello I gave the Generic nmea a try and that allowed me to set the baud rate to 4800 to match the garmin 196. The advanced nmea settings are set at normal.
I think its good to go now communicating with no errors.
I will do a flight test as soon as we get some decent weather.
Thanks for the tips.
