Trig Avionics is a neat company for those that have not had a chance to interact with them. Dynon indicated the 2020 might be made available for non-Skyview system use so I dropped Trig a note and asked if I could use it with the TT22 transponder system. The TT22 is fundamentally the same transponder unit that Dynon uses in Skyview with a Trig remote head for your dash. There are some wiring and com differences between the TT22 and Skyview versions of the transponder unit but they are otherwise the same bit of TSO'd equipment.
Trig responded that the 2020 communicates at too high a data rate for the Trig transponder BUT Dynon was considering a version of the 2020 with a Trig acceptable data rate. I would encourage Dynon to support Trig and Trig to support the new version of the 2020.
Trig has already solved the air/ground and pilot manual update issues with the Peregrin and other STCs. Having a cost effective GPS powered from the Trig unit that meets 2020 specs would be a fantastic high quality solution for certified aircraft.
