I was trying to get Dynon's official take on painting the GPS antenna. Ive heard that you are not supposed to use lead or metallic paint on these. Some manufacturers also take paint into consideration with the calibrations.

A simple search eg "painting gps antenna" would have found this answer ---Started by RV8Driver | Post by Dynon Support Reply Quote Add Topic Notification
Covering the GPS with anything (even paint) reduces it's ability to receive signals, however minimally. In practice, it may not be noticeable in the real world, but the signal reception is measurably less. So - you'll probably be OK; we don't recommend it just the same. ;)

I had a Mooney with an external GPS antenna. It had a do not paint warning but the paint shop painted over it anyway with a polyurethane. Flew with it for years like that, never missed a beat.

Anything you put on top of the SV-GPS-250 will affect it's ability to receive, whether paint, a canopy, or something else. Practically speaking, the SV-GPS-250 can find satellites even indoors sometimes (in hangars and such), and so you may be able to get away with painting it without there being any discernible effect. On the other hand, you may strike out. So we don't recommend it for best performance and can't guarantee performance or warrant a painted SV-GPS-250.
