Ok, I may already know the answer to this question and it may have already been addressed on earlier discussions.
I was taxing down wind on a long taxi way with a 20 knot tail wind. When all of a sudden "GPS ASSIST" pops up on the PFD.
When I turned to hold short of the runway it went away.
So after deep thought :D I deduced that the Dynon thought the pitot airspeed had failed due to the tailwind and the GPS knew I was taxing about the same speed. Sound reasonable?

GPS assist will come on when you have no airspeed but your ground speed is above about 20 knots. Likely you were going above 20 knots, but clearly had no airspeed due to the tailwind.
