GPS for Dynon Transponder

I have a dynon transponder and ADSB out. Will I have to purchase the Dynon 2020 GPS or can I use my Avidyne 540 GPS with the transponder? I'm aware of the capabilities for updates of position for the Dynon 2020, but prefer not to spend the additional money.

On page 11-26 of the Skyview installation manual it states that the Avidyne 400/500 series (as well as Garmin, Trig, and FreeFlight equivalents) do meet the ADS-B requirements and can be used for position/ADS-B source for the Skyview system.
