GPS NMEA input for wind speed and direction

The EFIS-D10A will output wind speed and direction if a suitable GPS NMEA feed is enabled. The details are given on

These state a requirement for sentences GPRMB and either GPBOD or GPAPB.

However all the above sentences refer to routing

Why cannot the EFIS give windspeed and direction with more limited GPS input such as from my FLARM which has the following NMEA output?

That page is telling you what sentences you need to display an HSI on the EFIS. If all you want is wind, a more simple GPS should work, as long as it gives us ground track and ground speed, but this hasn't been verified.
