I'm checking out my new Skyview HDX on the desk, and cannot get a good GPS status. It varies between 0 green, 3 yellow, 6 white, up to 3 green etc. Why is it not using the white satellites with excellent strength ? The GPS-250 is sitting in my garden with a reasonably clean view of the sky. At the same location my Samsung phone gets an excellent fix as shown in the second picture. The GPS-250 has been powered up for a few hours to get everything stabilized.

Thanks
Sven

I agree that it seems to work fine, but the installation manual (page 8-14) states that I need to see at least 6 satellites/bars in green, and that white satellites are not used in the position solution.

I have the same problem in Brazil.
I can't get the updated position when I turn on skyview. The red X appears.
I have aera 500 conected to skyview, , work better than sv-gps-250 ( whitout external antenna).
would it be any problem with receiving sv-gps-250?
dirt or paint on top of the antenna ??

So the colors are admittedly not ideal. More important are the number of sats in use, the reported quality of the fix (2D, 3D), and if you want to get a little more technical, the hdop and vdop give you a really good idea of the actual fix.

It seems white does not mean "not used" as the manual says. My screen most of the time shows mostly white satellites, then for part of a second much color, then quickly back. The first picture shows a good fix with all white satellites, like I have for 90% of the time. The second shows some of the satellites green and yellow. HDOP, PDOP, quality, and satellites used are all the same, the screnshots are two seconds apart.
