GPS source failure

I have an RV-6 with a SV-D700 and a SV-GPS-250 that has worked fine for a few years. The other day I messed up an aerobatics maneuver and pulled close to 6g. The skyview didn't like this and gave me a Skyview GPS source failure. I tried shutting the skyview off and on but the GPS source failure persisted until I shut down. When I later started up the skyview and GPS source were fine. I took off again flew some for aerobatics (all less than 4g) and the GPS source failure error occurred again and remained until I landed and shut down. On restarting the Skyview & GPS source was fine. Went on a 2 hour x-country flight with no skyview problems.
Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong and how I should go about troubleshooting it?

Besides the GPS not seeing any sky when upside down, I could only guess the internals of the GPS puck have some damage that internal connections make/break under higher G loads. Otherwise it is connectors you need to look at.

Be careful with those G loads too. 6G @ 1375lbs is the max limit on a -6, and I assume you are well aware of that.

Yes I am well aware of the 6 g limit and I am below the 1375 lbs. For aerobatics it's essentially a one person airplane. One of those potentially dangerous mistakes. I normally try to stay below 4 g. I will check all the connections. What puzzles me is the way the dynon seems to work again after a little rest. If something was loose or broken one would expect it just to stay broke.

It could be the serial coms gets screwed up, and a restart sorts it out. I am only guessing.

Until Dynon steps in here with an actual answer...how do you know it's because of the Gs? It could be due to LOS (loss of signal). You could easily test this and rule it in or out by simply covering the GPS antenna for a period of time to simulate the outage, and see what happens.

I have been flying the airplane and doing aerobatics for a few years and previously had no problem with the Dynon losing the GPS signal. I also have two other independent gps in the airplane that keep performing while the Dynon loses its signal. Next time I'm at the airport I will go under the panel and check all the Dynon connections to confirm that they are tight.

I climbed under the panel and checked all the GPS and Dynon connections. I didn't find anything that looked like a problem, but I did wiggle the connections and tighten the thumb screws on them. I then went flying again (three times actually) with some aerobatics without having a recurrence of losing the Dynon GPS signal source. So possibly the problem was due to some looseness in the connections. Thank you to all that replied and will let you know if the problem reoccurs.

The Gs themselves shouldn't be a problem for the device itself, and there isn't any software that limits GPS on G loads. Our guess is with yours - likely a connection issue.
