Twice, in flight, I have received a primary GPS Failure messages. Since I have a secondary GPS source, this apparently was of no consequence, other than the message.

However, I can't see anywhere on the SV screen that shows GPS 1 or GPS 2 status in a convenient location. This would be useful to know in flight.

You can see this in the setup menu, under local screen setup and GPS status. You're right that it's nowhere convenient, but that's the point of the message. You're on your primary until you get the message. We try and not just have extra stuff floating all over the screen.

Something sounds like it's up if you are getting that message, unless you are doing sustained inverted flight. Most installs will go their whole life without ever seeing this. I've got 300 hours on my plane and have never seen it.

Just to be fair, my Garmin GPS has had outages like this as well (not at the same time). The cause may be external.

Why not allow a status field to be added to the MAP page?
