GPS

  I'm building a RV-7A, and after looking at other builders sites some of them are mounting the GPS antenna under the cowl on a shelf.
Is the SV-GPS-250 any more sensitive to heat if the receiver is built into it? Would mounting it on a shelf under the wingtip be better? What effect would the long wire run have?

Larry,
Under the cowl is a pretty nasty place for any electronics to be, so this wouldn't be our favorite place for the antenna. It can get pretty hot under there.

The wingtip would be better, and there is no restriction on the wire length. All data on the wires is digital.
