The Skyview manual says "SkyView can display the status of the Garmin GTX 327 and Garmin GTX 330 / 330ES transponders. To use this functionality with SkyView:
• Wire a serial receive line to the respective transmit line on the transponder. If you have more than one SkyView display, make the same connection to all SkyView displays.
It is not clear to me what "status" gets reported back to the Skyview such that making this connection has value??? The Garmin 327 install manual doesn't illuminate this any either. It indicates that one can either get ICARUS altitude data or REMOTE, Reserved for future use. It also does not have a REMOTE+TIS option listed.
Anybody got an idea on what the "status" is? Also, what SW version must the GTX have, mine is at least circa 2000 when I originally installed it?
thx

- Ensure there is a shared ground between the SkyView display and the transponder. If you have more than one SkyView display, make the same connection to all SkyView displays.
- Configure the serial port on each display appropriately under SETUP MENU > SYSTEM SETUP > SERIAL PORT SETUP.
- Configure the serial port on the transponder appropriately. For a Garmin GTX 327, 330 / ES, the RS-232 output of the appropriate serial port on the transponder should be set to REMOTE+TIS."
