The Skyview manual says "SkyView can display the status of the Garmin GTX 327 and Garmin GTX 330 / 330ES transponders. To use this functionality with SkyView:
• Wire a serial receive line to the respective transmit line on the transponder. If you have more than one SkyView display, make the same connection to all SkyView displays.
  • Ensure there is a shared ground between the SkyView display and the transponder. If you have more than one SkyView display, make the same connection to all SkyView displays.
  • Configure the serial port on each display appropriately under SETUP MENU > SYSTEM SETUP > SERIAL PORT SETUP.
  • Configure the serial port on the transponder appropriately. For a Garmin GTX 327, 330 / ES, the RS-232 output of the appropriate serial port on the transponder should be set to REMOTE+TIS."

It is not clear to me what "status" gets reported back to the Skyview such that making this connection has value??? The Garmin 327 install manual doesn't illuminate this any either. It indicates that one can either get ICARUS altitude data or REMOTE, Reserved for future use. It also does not have a REMOTE+TIS option listed.

Anybody got an idea on what the "status" is? Also, what SW version must the GTX have, mine is at least circa 2000 when I originally installed it?

thx

When configured, the transponder top bar will reflect the discrete code/mode, but you can't control the transponder from SkyView like you can for our own transponder.

The REMOTE+TIS is for the transmit side of the serial port, not the input side. So you might not be in the right setup item on the 327.

Here is what the manual says about input and output settings, neither I or O includes the option for REMOTE+TIS. But I'll go ahead and hook it up, what's one more wire in the sea of so many?

I'm not sure which of the following it is, but it's likely ether that:
1) a later software update for the 327 added a compatible format
2) the REMOTE format actually does the trick, or
3) The 327 is actually different than the 330/335 in this respect, and they're erroneously lumped in together in the SkyView manual.

Anyone out there have a 327 and can confirm what capabilities you have?

Nobres, boa tarde, venho aqui compartilhar que descobri a configuração e agora o GTX 327, esta se comunicando com o Dynon SkyView, e recebendo os dados de altimetria.

No meu caso no serial porta 1 setup em serial in device, selecionei Garmin GTX 327, no serial out device: icarus altitude 100ft e o baud rate em 9600, conforme foto.

Nele no campoRS-232 INPUT no CHNL 1, coloquei REMOTE, NO CHNL 2: ICARUS ALT, e no OUTPUT, selecionei ICARUS ALT.

I think the above post was:

Good afternoon, I come here to share that I discovered the configuration and now the GTX 327, is communicating with the Dynon SkyView, and receiving the altitude data.

In my case, in serial port 1 setup in serial in device, I selected Garmin GTX 327, in serial out device: icarus altitude 100ft and the baud rate at 9600, as shown in the photo.

On the garmin GTX 327, I entered its setup (with it off, press FUNC + ON or STBY, which starts in setup) then the function key changes the screens, and CRSR, select the field to be edited, and the edit, does it with the keys 8 and 9.

In the RS-232 INPUT field in CHNL 1, I put REMOTE, NO CHNL 2: ICARUS ALT, and no OUTPUT, I selected ICARUS ALT.

After turning off the GTX327 and Dynon SkyView, and restarting them, the GTX327 already appeared, with the ALT pressure indication, the same as on the screen altimeter for the location (SJ39). I hope these tips are useful and help those in need.
