Dynon Support?

Will the HS-34 and the AP work with the GX50/60/65 series GPS's that output the extra GPSS data in the AVIATION datastream on the RS232 lines? How about automatic CDI sensitivity from the GPS for approaches?

If not, would connecting the GPS to the CDI left and right analog lines give the same result?

It seems there was a time where the GX-50/60/70 did support GPSS but only over RS232.

I don't believe we have any installations that are using a GX over serial, so I can't answer that for sure.

Automatic CDI sensitivity is not supported over serial at all. You would need the ARINC connection to do this. This does work.

Hooking it up via analog will work as well for some things, but you loose a huge percentage of the neat things we can do with a digital connection, and the AP will not fly via this connection yet.

I found the documents that detail how the GPSS works over the RS232 on the GX series.

It is a subset of the AVIATION format where they add a custom "h" sentence to the data.

Does TRACK, GS, Dist to Active WP, Brg to Active WP, and Horizontal Commanded Bank Angle give you enough info to run the HSI and drive the AP? Seems they do not output the rest of the normal Aviation sentences when set to this mode......

It looks like there may be enough there for a GPSS-like command mode to be POSSIBLE, but so far, we've only committed to supporting GPSS using the ARINC-429 labels though an HS34.
