Installing the Dynon and looking at that soon to be empty vacuum pump pad on my engine's accessory case. Has anyone received a field approval to install a vacuum pump pad standby alternator? Both B & C and PlanePower make standby alternators that replace a vacuum pump. They both list them as "For Experimental. B & C makes a version of theirs for only 3X$ that is PMA'd. B & C has an STC for some of the Bonanzas and I think some Pipers. As usual, the Navion isn't included in the AML for those STCs. But it's such a great safety enhancement, I'd think the FAA FSDO Inspectors might be willing to take a chance on approving data to install a piece of non-primary equipment like this.

I know the Dynon's have battery backup but it'd be nice to have some protection for the pitot heat, IFR GPS, com radios, nav lights, landing lights, transponder, etc. I'm so happy to be rid of that vacuun pump and now i have a chance to add some more protection.
