Newbie question. I'm a CFI with a client who just purchased a SportCruiser with a dual HDX panel (awesome!). It does not have WiFi to connect to iPads, so he's purchasing the dongles. Two questions.
  1. One or two? Does he need one for each panel? if two, do they communicate with each other and use the same connection name/password?
  2. We will be using the easy access USB ports in the cabin for chart data. I understand there are ports in the back of the units we can use for the WiFi. But where are they and do I have to be a contortionist to get at them?
Thanks.

Hi

1) I have installed two and yes you only need one password etc. Dynon say in their documentation two are needed for system redundancy

2) I have installed the two wifi dongles in one of the two ports on the back of the screens. If your back is not up to twisting under the panel why not take the screens out to insert the dongles its only 4 screws. Hopefully there should be enough slack in the loom to allow you to tip the screen forward to insert the dongle.

In the Skyview System Installation Guide, chapter 4, page 10 shows a rear-view drawing of the HDX screen and USB port locations. As mentioned above by Stevec, removing the 4 ea. front mounting screws and pulling the HDX screen forward from the panel should give good access to the rear ports without too much difficulty. You can find the Installation Guide on this link, under the Installation Guides tab:
