HDX, VPX, no EMS

I have a dual screen HDX system with VPX for power but no EMS since I have a Viking engine with Viking view. I have installed the VPX license and can see the VPX setup active in the setup menu however I cannot find a way to get any VPX info displayed in my main screen. Is there a way to do this or am I going to need to purchase an EMS for the system. The EMS will not be used to monitor anything since flaps and trim will be controlled thru the VPX. Has anyone taken this approach before?

Having an EMS module is required to use the VPX and there isn't a work around for it short of doing as you suggest and install the EMS even though it isn't doing anything.
