Hello,
Yesterday morning I completed a 1.5 hour flight with no issues with my Dynon setup. In the afternoon, with no changes to the airplane or avionics, my HDX1100 failed to boot. My normal process is to boot up off the backup battery, start the engine and then turn on the Avionics master. The screen appears to be powering on normally, I hear the cooling fans for just a moment and then it reboots to the HDX splash screen and stays there indefinitely. The cooling fans are not running.
HDX1100 information:
v16.4.0.9609 (installed for numerous months)
Serial 12082 (I think this is referred to as hardware version 2?)
Purchased new around 2017
950 flight hours
1000 flights (Funny/sad how the failure was what would have been flight 1001)
Original backup battery (disconnecting backup battery does not help)
Skyview intercom and T25 radio
Dynon GPS2020
Dynon transponder
Dynon auto pilot servos
Buttons and Knobs panels not installed
No Level button installed
No Go Around button installed

Things I have tried:
-Disconnected the backup battery
-Attempted to boot on aircraft power (dual EarthX, both putting out 13.7 volts)
-Disconnect both USB ports (Dynon Wifi and video adapter normally connected)
-Disconnect both 9 pin network ports. Only the D37 is connected
-Validated that the D37 pins 1 and 20 show 13.7 volts when using pins 21 or 22 (aircraft ground) or ground to aircraft metal
-Pins 21 and 22 to aircraft metal show continuity (Previous bullet is pretty much saying this, just doubling up)
-Removed D37 pin 16, USB port power (I've used the D37 USB port for all of the 6 years this system has been flying. It has worked great)
-1+2+5 reboot button combination did not help
-Let it sit on the splash screen for three minutes
-Cooling fans spin freely and blades seem clean
-Airplane is hangared and pretty good temperature and humidity control. Airplane has never been out in the rain.
-Pushed each of the panel buttons to see if they are stuck down. All seem normal
-Knobs twist and push in click feels very normal
-Alert logs for at least the last three flights show the very first message as "B/U BATT LOW CHAR"
-backup battery last self test was successful January. Since the failure to boot happens with the backup battery disconnected, I'm not going to replace the backup battery.
-No USB thumb drives connected to the system.
-All the pins of the HDX1100 side of the D37 and network D9's look great, no bent pins.
-D37 connection secure.
-No electrical storms or lightning strikes between the successful flight and the failure to boot. The airplane was in the hangar after the successful flight, it was not baking in the sun or getting wet.
-Last successful flight, I powered off the Avionics Master, Dynon asked if I wanted to power off or Stay On. I click Yes to Stay On and did a User Logs download to USB. No issues with the backup battery, downloading to USB, or the power off. I powered off HDX before removing the USB drive.
I talked to Dynon Support and they were kind and suggested some of the ideas above, which I had already tried before calling. They said the next step is to send it back for diagnostics.

Any thoughts?
