After 250 hours of perfect performance, my D100's artificial horizon decided to do slow rolls (360 degrees in about 30 seconds). Runup and take off were completely normal. About 5 minutes into the flight the slow rolls started. I tried powering off and on several times and it made no difference. Since it was a beautiful, clear day, we just continued on.
After about an hour of slow rolls, the rolling stopped and after about 5 minutes, the horizon and heading were back to normal and for the remainder of the flight (~1 hour), everything worked perfectly again. We stopped and got gas (off for ~15 minutes) and headed home - again it worked perfectly.
I'm running a D100 with version 5.4. This wasn't a critical problem in clear air, but in marginal conditions, it would have been very disturbing!![Eek! ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Any ideas? Sun spots? Lightsquared's new network? Secret Service jamming (Obama will be in town tomorrow)? Or do I just have a sensor that is going bad? Thanks for any ideas!
