On the new SkyView Autopilot web page there's a table listing current and future features. "Horizontal NAV" is available now with the 2.0 release, whereas "Horizontal GPS steering" will be available in the future. Could you please explain the functional difference between these two capabilities?

A note below the table specifies that the autopilot will follow a connected GPS with NMEA or Aviation Format serial output. Could you give some examples of compatible devices?

With Horizontal NAV the AP will fly to a waypoint, overflies the waypoint and then turn to intercept the course from that waypoint to the next waypoint loaded in the GPS flight plan. With Horizontal GPS Steering, the GPS outputs steering commands to the AP so the AP will turn before reaching the waypoint to make a smooth intercept of the course between that waypoint and the next waypoint on the flight plan. It cuts the corner. This funciton, GPS Steering, is only available on a few GPS units. The Garmin 430 will do it with ARINC 429 connections, but I do not have a complete list of units that do this.

For a list of GPS units with NMEA or Aviation format serial outputs I suggest you search the Dynon Wiki pages. I believe you will find the information there.

Best Regards,
