Would it be possible to allow the EFIS-D10 to be programmed so that it supported "hot keys"?  By this I mean multiple buttons pressed simultaneously.  As in...provide some way for the user to set up pre-defined "go to" target menus, and then allow the user to assign a "hot key" combination of buttons to go directly to a target.

In an ideal world it would be user-customizeable, but if this is too much to ask for, then how about some very simple "shortcuts", such as:

  • Buttons 1 & 2 pressed simultaneously = set altimeter
  • Buttons 2 & 3 pressed simultaneously = set heading bug
  • Buttons 2 & 4 pressed simultaneously = set altitude bug
  • Buttons 3 & 4 pressed simultaneously = set timer

Something like that.  I believe that by adding "shortcuts" (customizeable or not), it would make the unit tremendously easier to use.  Having to clickety click through menus is not ideal interface design in my opinion.  And, as far as I can tell, the buttons are not being used to their full potential -- which could be harnessed by supporting simultaneous button combos.

Just an idea.
