How many people are using the internal compass?

Greetings,

I have the D10A in hand, and the EDC, OAT, and harness are on the way. The plan is to install this in an RV-3, at the top, center of the panel. This is really about as clean of a location as I can imagine having in the panel, so I'm thinking that the unit should work well without the EDC.

I'd like to use the OAT, but installing the EDC will be a pain, no matter where I try to put it. My RWS (real world solutions) EM-2 has OAT, and TAS, so I won't be doing without those items if I skip the EDC.

How many people have had good luck without using the EDC?

You are missing the EDC best feature--OAT/DA/TAS! Use wet compass and G195 primary/backup and D-10A as standby heading!
