Hi all,

our flying club bought a used plane with installed EMS and EFIS.
Since the technical and english language knowledge of the numerous pilots varies in a wide range, I would like to protect all the setup functions from modification. (in other words: make it foolproof)
Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks and happy landings,

Friedhelm

Don't know if you can "turn off" the setup functions, but you CAN backup your configuration (and it is strongly recommended that you do so).

Use the updater utility, and look under the backup and restore capabilities. It isn't hard.

Hi Phantompholly,

thanks for your reply.
Taking a backup after setup is what i will do anyway. But this is just the second best solution.
This will put me into the position of a firefighter, always ready to run and restore.. ;-)

From what I found searching around the forum, there must be some oem functions allowing exactly what I need. How to access???

Another way (=proposal for future update  ;D) is:
Implement a lock that can be released using a special pattern of pressed keys during power on...

Meanwhile, surfing through the configuration software's help file, I found what I was looking for.
I have to play the role of an OEM...

With THAT I can give you a useful tip. You aren't worried about thieves changing the settings, but rather another pilot.

Just write the password on the top or bottom of the unit with permanent marker. It only takes one screw to release the unit to slide out a bit so you can see it...
