I'm sorry if this has already been posted and answered but a search didn't disclose anything.

My plane is flying and everything seems to work but the HSI. I paid a guy who manufactures harnesses to make a harness for my FlightDEK 180 with HS34 and Garmin 430W. The HSI picks up the GPS signal just fine, but I can't make it "see/hear" the nav signal from the Garmin 430W. Per the installation manual on page 8-18, I told the Dynon to enable the analog signal from the Garmin NAV radio. NO luck.

So, is the garmin 430 Nav output analog? Or is it serial? ARINC-429? I'm guessing Analog.

And since the 180 is set to receive the analog signal, is there some magical configuration menu I have to get to in the Garmin to make it output the NAV signal appropriately?

I'm just guessing I have to do something to the Garmin since in order to make the GPS signal work right, I had to follow a post in this forum with lots of menus and submenus.

Help!

The usual method of connecting the NAV radio (and GPS) functions from a 430 to a FlightDEK-D180 is to use ARINC-429 connections between the 430 and the HS34.  This is detailed in the most recent FlightDEK-D180 Installation Guide (PDF download), on Page 9-14.
