I think you've found this older
thread. So first, know that the forum reflects what we believe to be true at a specific moment in time. We did initially believe that radios like Narcos and Kings would work with the HS34, but we turned out to be wrong about that.
Here's the full story:
When we designed the HS34 years ago, we intended for it to work with any radio with an analog resolver interface. We tested this capability in house with radios like the SL30 and the Garmin 430 (which it works with, but if you're using an SL30 or Garmin 430, you want to use the serial or digital ARINC 429 interface anyway).
We made an assumption that all radios have the exact same interfaces at an electrical level. This turned out to be wrong.
Most King radios, for example, have a composite output which needs a separate king-provided interface module to work with the "standard" resolver interface that the HS34 supports. The few customers that tried this found that this interface module did not produce compatible outputs. Similarly, Narco radios apparently don't work with the HS34 either.
After this discovery, we decided to survey what the demand actually was for the analog resolver interface compatibility. We realized that it was not very strong, and made the business decision to not support the analog interface on the HS34. It's still in the product, so anybody that wants to experiment is free to. Dynon provides no technical support for it, however.
On the sales side, we try to DISCOURAGE use of the HS34 as a method to connect to older radios via the analog resolver interface due to the lack of confidence that it will end up working with radios through those connections.
Finally, for people that for whatever reason don't end up with the whole story and end up with a product that they discover doesn't work for them, we always offer a full refund for the HS34.
We do apologize for the confusion and the time you spent trying to get the interface to work.
