I have a GNS480 connected to the HS34 (D100) via ARINC as per the wiki. All seems to work except I don't see the Baro ALT displayed on the GNS480.  Have latest firmware for all units.

According to Dynon, this parameter should be passed via the ARINC.  http://wiki.dynonavionics.com/ARINC-429_Labels

I don't know enough about the 480 and its settings to know if there's something that you need to toggle to get it to use that field (any other 480 owners out there?). But label 204 is almost definitely in the output (double checking this with the dev team)

In the Ground Maintenance Baro Interface page of the GNS480, I have selected

FADC BARO/ALT: USE

label 204 is there according to my install manual, serial Alt input is also possible.

What software version do you have in the 480 ?
I think you need to change the Arinc 429 settings, what did you actually use for IN & out ?

The 480 has the latest firmware (2.3)

I will have to go back to the hangar to verify the settings, however they were the ones recommended on the Dynon HS34/ARINC page.

Alfio, you should have FADC BARO/ALT on IGNORE.

Just checked by going in the GNS480 to menu SYS/CNFG and the Baro Correct. parameter is following the Baro value of the D10A/HS34.

If you look on the GNS480 at the GND MAINT/INPUT/OTHER INPUTS/BARO, you will see there the value of the Baro Potentiometer. Not the value of the baro from the D10A going through ARINC429.

Hope this helps. Jacques.

Thanks Jacques. Going for a flight tomorrow morning, so will check those parameters. Will provide feedback on this thread.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Was at the hangar today and can confirm that GNS480 - SYS/CNFG's Baro Correction is shown and follows the setting in the D100/HS34.

In the map pages however, the ALT indication is blank. Looking at the manual for that parameter, it says that ALT will be blank if it is not a valid input. Should not the ALT value (which  is the barometric corrected altitude value from the Dynon 100) be shown?

From Page 25 of User Guide
Selectable Nav Data Fields for Map Pages 2-4
Altitude ALT -  Baro-corrected pressure altitude. Value is dashed out when there is no valid source.

Hello Alfio,

Works on my bench. Look at the attached picture.
I cabled and setup as per http://wiki.dynonavionics.com/Garmin_480_Wiring

I would suggest that you recheck all connections - do you have ARINC port 2 input of the GNS480 connected to the ARINC output of the HS34 and configured accordingly?
On the HS34 in the menu SETUP/HSI/ARINC, output data/on, output speed/high.
On the GNS480, in the GND MAINT/ARINC menu, CH_IN 2, EFIS, HIGH, SYS1. The other 2 CH_IN are both at NONE

Hope this helps, Jacques

WOOHOO. IT WORKS NOW!!!!

So I tried different settings (thanks Jacques), and also changed the ARINC data speeds to HIGH. No GO.

Then I went to the map page, and selected custom labels on it and re-selected ALT. Guess what... it worked. Seems the label (at least the ALT) needed a refresh by having it reselected. Who would have known... hope this helps someone down the road.
