I have a Ultralight TL3000 that has a Dynon GPS and a Garmin 495 GPS. I use the 495 for for fight planning and guidance. Despite it showing in the little screen in magenta and showing the next waypoint  HSI ALT remains greyed out. I did note after watching the Dynon videos that the HSI needle is orange so I think there may be a set up problem with the HSI ALT looking for the Dynon with no flight plan when the Garmin is the HSI source and vice versa. If this is the case is this a wiring thing or is this something in set up and where do I go from here. Regards Ian

So you have your bearing pointer, but notice the magenta HSI/CDI needle is missing. This is likely due to the data outupt rate setting in the 496's Advanced NMEA menu being set to FAST instead of NORMAL. When it's set to fast it emits some sentences.
