HSI/CDI & Garmin GNS 480

Will the HSI/CDI display show both GPS and NAV data when connected to a Garmin GNS 480?

No. The only NAV radio we support is the SL-30 because it's the only one that outputs the NAV info over serial. To support the GNS 480 we'll need to add ARINC 429 or ARINC analog support.

You will be able to display the HSI from the GPS side though.

May I suggest that you double check that?

From looking at the GNS 480 Installation Manual, it appears that they do output Nav data on a serial port, albeit in Garmin's MAPCOM format.

If you don't have access to the GNS 480 Installation Manual, please let me know and I will send you a .pdf.

Thanks for the info. We'll look into this. If the output is the same as the SL 30, it will work, if it's different we'll need to add a parser for the info. If the latter is true, it probably won't be in the upcoming release but we'll think about adding it in the future if enough customers ask.

I am planning an SL30 and CNS480 installation. I would very much like to get VOR/ILS info on the EFIS from both navigators.
