HSI Indicator

I have a D100 with a HS34, connected is a 696 and 300xl.
Connected to the 696 is a Zaon XRX.  When I have the 696 configured for no traffic information I get my number 1 and 2 HSI needles receiving data from the 696 and 300XL  But when I configure the 696 to accept traffic information from the Zaon then I loose the HSI needle for the 696.  So where have I gone wrong in either my installation or configuration.  The 696 displays traffic correctly when configured to receive traffic.

Nothing's coming to mind immediately. I'm pretty sure this configuration is one that people have reported positively about previously. What do you have set on the NMEA out side of things on the 696? If you have NMEA+TIS, try going to just NMEA out perhaps.

Also, when you say "configure the 696 to accept traffic information", you mean a software toggle only, no re-wiring or devices turned on/off differently, right? What formats are you using on the 696 setup pages for NMEA and traffic?
