Can anyone explain to me how I can setup my D10 so that the ILS on the HSI reads the correct forward coarse and not as a back coarse (which it is doing currently)? It is coupled to a Garmin/Apollo SL30. The correct ILS frequency is entered into the SL30 and I've tried to hit the to/from toggle but still no luck.

To/From only applies to VOR. For LOC/ILS the needle works only one way. The key is to set the "course" setting in the D10 (or HS34) to the runway heading. Once you have done that then the needle indications make sense. If you fly the back course approach to the same runway, set the "course" to the opposite heading to match the direction you will be flying and the indications will still be correct.

I will try and find where this can be done. I assume this would be on the HSI page? Thanks

This is incorrect. To get proper needle movement ALWAYS set the CDI to the front course. Unlike a VOR, the CDI has no effect on needle sensing on an ILS. The value of the HSI on a back course is that when the plane is inbound and the CDI is on the front course, the needle is reversed and therefore needle movement is reversed which gives the pilot a “normal” deviation picture.

I stand corrected. And this is all explained in the D10A pilots user's guide in the section that covers the BC indicator.
