I have just received my new SV-XPNDR-261 Transponder and SV-ADSB-470 Receiver. I have Installation questions for clarification.

1. Page 11-11 of install manual for the transponder states ‘Although SkyView’s GPS output does not meet the 2020 requirements, it can be used until then to “wake up” the ADS -B ground stations so that they report back traffic targets around your aircraft’s position.” Does this mean that at this time, using the Skyview GPS (internal) instead of the Certified GPS input (Pin 3 of transponder), (a) will provide the same level of targets? (b)The certified input will not give a better result?

2. Page 14-6 states “The SV-ADSB-470 should not be placed within 2 feet of the transponder antenna.” (a) Is there any distance required from a comm antenna? (b) If so would interference only occur when the comm. is transmitting?

3. Wiring the SV-ADSB-470: I am locating this module in the rear of the plane, 12” from the pitch servo and 24” from the Adhrs. (a) Does this create any issues? (b) Can I use standard wiring for power and data? (c) Should I twist the serial wires. (d) Can I bundle the serial and power wires together for the run of about 12 feet? (e) Should the serial be shielded? (f) Can I use a 4 conductor shielded cable for the 4 required wires, again 12 feet?

Any information along these lines would be appreciated!

1) Correct. (a) Yes (b) It will not. However, it would be legal to use Jan 1, 2020 if you had a certified GPS installed directly. All other performance is the same.

2) (a) No

3) (a) 24" should be fine for the ADAHRS, and servo / ADS-B distance doesn't matter. (b) The ADS-B module doesn't require much power, if that's what you're asking. It doesn't need particularly low gauge wires like say a servo does. You can't pull power from SkyView Network, though. (c) No need (d) Yes. (e) not required ; doesn't hurt (f) yes
