Hi everybody !
I have an EIS from Jeff Rose that fires my lycoming very efficiently. I wish to use the RPM info that I guess must be available from the EIS which has its dedicated sensor, ot feed the Dynon 180. Will the RPM info be directly usable for the Dynon or does it need to be modified with the help of a resistor or do I have to forget about this idea and use the magneto info. BTW I have only one mag left. Some info will be very appreciated :-[

The Dynon needs a pulse that goes above 10V and below 2V. If your ignition system has a tach output that does this, you can use it. We don't have much experience with the system you describe so I can't directly help. If it's low voltage, no resistor is needed. If the pulse is between 50V and 600V, you should use a resistor. If it's above 600V, well, now you might as well just use that to fire the spark plug ;)

Of course, if you still have a mag, you can just hook to the P-lead direct, which will work fine. The EIS won't give you more accurate RPM data.
