I love the skyview. Fly vfr and most within 100 miles of US CAN border. Free faa data. I did pay for JEPP data and their tech and I decided that the Canadian terrain and airport data that is not covered in FAA overlap for free is nice to have. I paid for it and we both agreed updating once a year was adequate for how I fly.
Well the day the charts expire a huge block shows on the screen that Jepp data is out of date. BIG FAT BLOCK. So, I updated to the latest FAA data...lost all canadian data. Ugggh. So, put back to the expired Jepp data but this huge block that obscures the plane symbol and the stuff I am directely over is really unacceptable. Even garmin doesnt do such cheesy stuff when you expired data. Give an acknowledge screen so they are ok on liability and then let me see my GPS please. That is very annoying and not ok.

My NA Jepessen data expired but I just get a warning on the map screen that can be cleared just like the SV 30 hour trial mode? Press the MAP button and then the button to clear the warning. I have to clear both as I haven't purchased the SV-MAP-270 yet.

Press map, then accept, and the out of date warning goes away. Putting this warning up was something Jeppesen required us to do in order to use their data.

Also, all terrain comes from Dynon and is available around the world for free. The aviation data and obstacles are what come from Jeppesen outside the USA.
