When I dial in a significant climb/descent, the altitude intercept arc does a good job of filtering out small variations due to minor turbulence. For example, in a 500 fpm descent, the VSI might bounce around from 400-600 fpm, but the arc tends to stay pretty stable. Yesterday, I dialed in a 100 fpm descent in similar conditions (where the VSI was bouncing around between 0-200 fpm), and the arc was jumping all over the place. Every time the VSI hit 0 momentarily, the arc disappeared and then started animating down toward the ship icon.
