Magnetometer interference

Would the ship's battery and/or the A/P servo cause interference cause with the magnetometer in the ADAHRS?

How much distance would be preferred to be between them and the unit.

To stick with the preferred tailcone spot, I am going to have to install mine lower because of the A/C blower motor on the upper shelf, yet the lower I go, the closer I'll be to the battery and the servo.

Thanks,

(still hoping for a remote magnetometer to make life easier).

Battery won't. Servo might put out a very small amount of RF, but considering how close my remote is to my primary comm antenna I'll go with "you won't have a problem."

Actually, the battery is a huge issue. It can have 50A going through it, which is a big magnetic effect. The servo motor has a permanent magnet as well as a few amps of current.

I'd say 2 feet from the servo and 3 feet from the battery would be a good rule of thumb. The cables to and from the battery need to follow the same rule.

Ah, I misread the OP - thought he was asking if battery would cause interference with the servo.

Yes - giant magnet sitting next to magnetic compass = BAD...

;)
