Map display blinks out

I'm just beginning my flight testing and my map display "blinks out" for 15 - 30 seconds when I do a gentle stall. Is this normal?

That's not normal. I would guess this indicates that your GPS antenna is mounted somewhere that its view of the sky gets blocked as you pitch up.

The plane is a zodiac 650, bubble canopy, low wing,and the receiver is mounted on the glare shield under the canopy.

check the connectors to the GPS, make sure they are not loose or shorting out.
