Momentary loss of screen power when airborne

Hi,

We have a D100 & D120 linked. Been installed and flying for about 15 months on a rotax powered Sportcruiser with not problems.

For about the last 3 weeks on every flight we have experienced a momentary loss of power to our D100 and occasionally both D100 & D120. The message " horizon recovering" is displayed and after about 4 seconds the horizon is back with us with correct QNH etc displayed.

Is this a temporary loss of power? Our D120  shows our voltage at about 11.9V when airborne, could a momentary drop be causing the screen loss?

Any thoughts on how to rectify this? We do not have a standby battery fitted in the D100, would fitting one cover any momentary voltage drops?

Thanks

Given that it sometimes effects both instruments, it does sound like an intermittent power issue.

Fitting an internal battery to the EFIS-D100 would indeed solve that issue, though there's no battery available for the EMS-D120, of course.

The fact that you're seeing 11.9V while flying might point at some other issue. Nominally, you should be seeing 14ish volts when the engine is running.
